The Arch: A Timeless Symbol
Wedding arches have always held a special place in ceremonies, symbolising the passage from one chapter of life to the next. However, our decorators knew that they could do more than just stand as an emblematic structure. They sought to transform the arch into a dynamic canvas, capable of bringing diverse wedding visions to life.
Versatility Unveiled
Our journey began with the realisation that the arch could be more than a static element. By reimagining its design, we've made it adaptable to a multitude of styles and themes. From opulent, flower-laden creations to minimalist marvels, our arch can seamlessly transition between various aesthetics, all with a simple rearrangement of elements.
Flowers and Draped Fabrics: The Power of Transformation
One of the most enchanting ways we've made the arch versatile is through the inclusion of flowers and gracefully draped fabrics. These elements are like the artist's palette, allowing us to infuse color, texture, and emotion into each design. With the arch as the centerpiece, we can now envision and create the wedding of your dreams.

✨ Creating the Perfect Wedding Table Setting: A Guide to Enchanting Styles ✨
Your wedding day is a canvas where you can paint the most beautiful picture of your love story. Among the countless details that make your day memorable, your wedding table setting is a focal point that can truly transform the atmosphere. From enchanting to modern, regal to boho, ethereal to classic, the possibilities are endless when it comes to creating your dream wedding table setting. In this guide, we'll explore the various styles that can turn your wedding into a magical and unforgettable event.
Enchanted Elegance:
Imagine a table adorned with lush, cascading florals, twinkling fairy lights, and crystal accents. Enchanted table settings transport you and your guests to a fairytale world. Opt for pastel hues, vintage china, and delicate lace runners to complete the look. Enchanted settings thrive on the allure of whimsy and romance.
Modern Marvel:
For the contemporary couple, modern table settings offer sleek lines, minimalist design, and bold accents. Think geometric centerpieces, metallic tableware, and clean, crisp aesthetics. The beauty of modern style is in its simplicity and sophistication.
Regal Opulence:
Make a statement with regal table settings that exude opulence and grandeur. Rich, deep colors, plush fabrics, and gold accents create an air of luxury. Tall candelabras, crystal chandeliers, and ornate tableware add regal charm.
Bohemian Bliss:
Boho table settings embrace the free-spirited, laid-back vibe. Incorporate mismatched tableware, vibrant textiles, and wildflower arrangements. With eclectic charm and an effortless feel, boho settings are perfect for outdoor or rustic weddings.
Ethereal Whimsy:
Ethereal table settings transport you to a dreamy, otherworldly realm. Soft pastels, gauzy fabrics, and floating candles set the stage. Incorporate hanging greenery and fairy lights for a magical touch.
Timeless Classic:
Classic table settings never go out of style. Crisp white linens, elegant tableware, and timeless florals create a sophisticated ambiance. This style is all about refined simplicity and everlasting beauty.
Personalized Touch:
Remember that each style can be personalized to reflect your unique love story. Incorporate elements that resonate with you and your partner, whether it's family heirlooms, meaningful quotes, or custom-made details.
Tips for Perfect Table Settings:
- Consider your wedding theme and venue when choosing a style.
- Create mood boards and consult with a wedding planner or designer for guidance.
- Play with textures, colors, and layers to add depth and dimension.
- Incorporate personal touches, such as custom place cards and favors.
- Lighting is key; use candles, lanterns, and string lights for ambiance.
- Don't forget about the seating arrangement; ensure guests feel comfortable and connected.
In conclusion, your wedding table setting is a canvas for your creativity and love story. Whether you dream of an enchanted forest, modern chic, regal splendor, bohemian freedom, ethereal fantasy, or timeless elegance, the possibilities are boundless. So, let your imagination run wild and create the wedding table setting that perfectly reflects your love and vision for your special day.

UPDATE: New Location for the Registry Office Wedding Ceremonies in Gibraltar
Starting from December 15th, 2023, there's an exciting change for couples tying the knot in Gibraltar. The venue for Registry Office wedding ceremonies will now be the Mario Finlayson National Art Gallery, nestled within the City Hall.
However, before you exchange vows in this beautiful setting, couples must still attend the Civil Status and Registration Office at Joshua Hassan House to finalise their paperwork with all their original documents and proof of stay for final verification.
The History of the Gibraltar City Hall
Built in 1819 by Aaron Cardozo, a prosperous merchant of Jewish Portuguese descent, this mansion initially served as his private residence in Gibraltar. Despite legal restrictions on property ownership for non-Protestants, Cardozo, a close friend of Lord Nelson, gained permission to construct this impressive three-story house, situated prominently in John Mackintosh Square. It replaced the former hospital, chapel of La Santa Misericordia, and a prison.
Following Cardozo's death in 1834, the mansion became the Club House Hotel under John Ansaldo's lease. In 1874, Pablo Antonio Larios, a wealthy Gibraltarian-born businessman, purchased the property and oversaw its comprehensive renovation. Eventually, it passed to the Gibraltar colonial authorities in 1922, initially intended as a post office but later becoming the Gibraltar City Council's headquarters.
The building played a significant role in Gibraltar's telecommunications, housing an automatic telephone exchange in 1926. Over time, it underwent expansions, including a new floor and a northern extension, altering its original design. Today, this historic structure is home to the Mayor's Parlour and the Mario Finlayson National Art Gallery.
In June 2015, the Mario Finlayson National Art Gallery opened its doors. The establishment of this gallery was a long-held dream of Gibraltar's art community, particularly championed by the renowned local artist Mario Finlayson BEM, who was a leading advocate for a National Art Gallery to showcase the work of talented local artists since the formation of the Calpe Artists Society in 1954.
So, as you plan your Registry Office Wedding in Gibraltar, remember that you're not just celebrating your love in a stunning venue; you're also becoming a part of Gibraltar's rich history and artistic heritage. It's a truly unique and meaningful way to begin your journey as a married couple.

Perhaps you'd like an elegant ceremony in a grand hall reminiscent of Barbie's Dreamhouse, or maybe a beachside setting under the Gibraltar sun, evoking memories of Barbie's endless summer adventures.
The Decor
When it comes to decor, think pink! But remember, Barbie is versatile, so feel free to explore the spectrum of pink hues from soft blush to vibrant fuschia. Incorporate vintage Barbie silhouettes and motifs for a touch of nostalgia, and consider adding thematic elements, like a tropical cocktail bar for a nod to Beach Barbie, or a red carpet photo area for Hollywood Barbie.
The Attire
Your Barbie-themed wedding is the perfect excuse to have fun with fashion. Brides can consider glamorous ballgowns or chic, form-fitting dresses that Barbie herself would love. The Menu
Bring your theme to life with a Barbie-inspired menu. Consider a cocktail hour with "Barbie-tinis" in bright pink, and a tiered wedding cake in Barbie's signature colour. How quickly can you get married in Gibraltar?
Gibraltar gives the chance of getting married to residents and non-residents, in or outside of the
registry office. As soon as the dates are decided it is only a question of sorting out the paperwork and
within a matter of a few days you could be saying “I do”.
After choosing the dates and space to get married, it is necessary to book a hotel night in Gibraltar,
whether it is the night before or the night of the wedding, as this is a requirement for getting married
in Gibraltar. What is known as a "'proof of stay” must be certified along with the other documents.
In regards to the documentation needed:
- If this is the first time the spouses are getting married, passports and the original birth
certificate (the one that shows the parents’ names) are sufficient to get married.
- In the case of those who are divorced, it would be necessary apart from what is already
specified in the previous postulate: the final divorce decree, which must be stamped and
official. For women, also have to provide the previous marriage certificate.
- In the case of those who are widowed, they must provide a passport and birth certificate; the
previous marriage certificate, and the death certificate of the deceased spouse.
Two witnesses must be present at the ceremony as they must sign the certificate, in case no friends or
relatives are able to travel with the couple, we can provide them.
Once all this has been approved by the notary and registry office, you will only have to say YES to
get married in Gibraltar, the express wedding´s resort.
Gibraltar, the safest place in the world to get married
For more than a year now, the words coronavirus, pandemic and lockdown have become our biggest nightmare. With the arrival of covid-19 the illusions of hundreds of thousands of people left: illusions in business, trips with friends, honeymoons, long-awaited and planned weddings and parties, and in short, covid took life with it.
The streets faded away, fell silent. We no longer saw children running in the squares, nor good morning on the way to work, nor the beeping of cars. No one said I DO anymore, no photographers taking pictures of the happiest day of the couples’ lives, no parties full of family and friends, no music on the stages, no wedding dance...everything vanished that March 2019, damping the hearts full of love of all those couples whose smiles were covered with a mask.
It has been a hard year, of bad news, of little hope, of not seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. Many days in which these couples had lost the illusion of seeing themselves promising eternal love with their loved ones or in an express wedding full of effusiveness and enthusiasm.
When the word vaccine began to resonate, the betting was that Denmark, Israel, or the United States would be the first ones to achieve a high percentage of vaccinated people and therefore have a population immunised against the virus. But the truth is that the big surprise is that we are lucky enough to work in the first corner of the world that has more than 90% of the population vaccinated at present, in addition to the majority of cross-border workers. In Gibraltar, the mask is history, and fresh air has begun to blow into the faces of Gibraltarians and visitors alike. The path to a real, new normality has begun.
So, as well as how effectively and quickly you can get married in Gibraltar with the help of wedding planners like our team at Hour Weddings, you can also do so without fear of cancellation now. Following the recommendations of Gibraltar. Tourist Board (https://www.visitgibraltar.gi/covid-19), all those who wish to unite their ties for life, do not hesitate to do so in the safest little corner of the world, which is slowly waking up from the nightmare.

Crafting Unforgettable Celebrations: Monica Coumbe – Gibraltar's Premier Wedding Planner
Monica Coumbe, notably featured on 'Gibraltar: Britain in the Sun', has become the go-to wedding and events planner, making celebrations exceptionally memorable, as detailed by Belinda Beckett.
Feeling somewhat frazzled and a tad weary, Monica jests about her hectic demeanour as she hastily pushes a Morrisons trolley filled with delicacies to the stars’ dressing rooms at the Gibraltar Music Festival. The cart is laden with assorted requests, from apple cider for Lawson to Haribos for Olly Murs and miso soup for Emeli Sande, all while being observed by a troop of Barbary macaques from the rooftops.
“Blimey! There’s a monkey, and I’ve got bananas!” exclaims Monica as she races in high heels, dodging inquisitive apes. It’s a humorous moment from the Channel 5 reality show that has endeared her to nearly two million British viewers. Even the programme’s sardonic narrator, Timothy Spall, is an admirer.
“It’s fate; there’s always a bit of a kerfuffle whenever I’m filmed!” she exclaims. Monica’s televised endeavours have generated substantial PR for her wedding and events business. Her venture has orchestrated grand affairs for prestigious firms like Barclays Private Banking and Interbuild.
Monica's journey has been marked by distinguished events, including high-profile weddings like that of John Galliano’s niece, Elizabeth, and Gibraltar’s Chief Minister, Fabian Picardo.
The allure of Gibraltar as a wedding destination has soared, owing to its hassle-free proceedings and stunning venues. Monica’s clientele is diverse, from Scandinavia, America, and Australia. Her adaptability in organising varied wedding events, whether in a church or al fresco, has made her a popular choice.
“People are opting for grander celebrations in Gibraltar,” Monica observes, noting the evolving trends in wedding styles. However, the essence remains the same, a profound connection with the couples and a dedication to making their day splendid.
Monica, reminiscing about her own experiences, envisions her dream of an Indian wedding on the beach, paying homage to her heritage, and recounts her thrilling experiences catering to various stars at the Gibraltar Music Festivals.

Wedding Trends 2021
With most 2020 weddings more or less cancelled, we look towards 2021 and consider how COVID will shape future weddings. Hour Weddings Gibraltar has been in the industry for nearly 20 years now and although Gibraltar has not been as badly affected as the rest of Europe, we certainly feel the pain of our neighbouring countries and brides.
Trend 1- Smaller crowds and outdoor venues
When investing in such a potentially expensive day, risking cancellation due to large numbers is something you do not want to dabble with. Keeping parties small mean you are more likely to go ahead with plans without last minute having to cut out beloved guests who may have paid to travel a long way to see you. Also, outdoor venues = circulation and comfortable guests who wont be terrified to come to a poorly ventilated party.
Trend 2- Elopement
Hour Weddings has already seen this trend picking up in Gibraltar. More couples are choosing to elope and travel alone abroad to get married? The prospect of cancelling, postponing and stressing is so 2020, couples are preparing with a romantic trip to a safe beautiful venue- Gibraltar anyone?
Trend 3- Live Stream + entertainment
Hour Weddings couples are asking to stream! Zoom and other popular sites which provide streaming services are becoming an ever more popular way to invite all your guests to your beautiful day. Another popular trend is entertainment via streaming services too, these include the first day and even live music.
Trend 4- No canapés or buffets
I could not think of anything more 2019 than buffets and canapés, how could we ever go back to this method of serving food?! Hour Weddings have seen more sit down preferences and in most instances it has been removed from most wedding venues in Gibraltar.
Heres to hoping for a better year, Hour Weddings x
KNOWING THE SELF WITHIN A LOVE STORY
Everything starts with contentment with supreme joy, beautiful sunrises and sunsets, candlelit dinners and all the wonderful experiences!!!
It’s like opening a book - one side love, joy and happiness and the other side our lower ego self, we hardly see that months or years later the darkness of the lower self rises like a serpent ready to attack, where did this come from and why does that happen? The ego self wants us to believe that we are not part of the problem, through our insecurities and vulnerabilities, but victims.
Arguments, misunderstandings, violent ways of talking, we knew that there is love but where has it gone? We searched and searched until we came to a dead end. No one could explain what was really happening, why the ego was taking over.
The pain was bouncing back and forth from non-truthfulness, greed, stealing to violence, she was applying violence then she remembered accepting pain and also disregarding the wicked and walked off.
He wanted to embark on a spiritual journey, an awakening happened, they both realised that they were on the same path together, we are each other’s teachers. There are fundamental rules and laws to follow to keep us balanced. He was going through the yamas and niyamas and realised he was hardly following any of them. This was an aha moment when he realised that they weren't aligned. Contemplation, reflection led him to take up truthfulness, she promised she would concentrate on non violence and contentment.
So the dawn of a new day has come...

Gibraltar promises wedding memories with a difference
Gibraltar is open for business to couples looking for an ideal place to wed that is steeped in history amid a backdrop of natural scenic beauty.
Situated in the Mediterranean, this British territory on the southern tip of the Iberian Peninsula is a natural choice for saying “I do.” Couples looking for a stress-free and memorable place to get married or enjoy their honeymoon have long been drawn to Gibraltar because of its rich heritage and fascinating flora and fauna.
The country’s tantalising cultural blend of European nationalities, Moorish and Jewish heritage has drawn well-known couples that include John Lennon and Yoko Ono, who got married there in March 1969; and Prince Charles and Princess Diana who started their honeymoon there in August of 1981.
Getting married in Gibraltar is a simple and streamlined process for foreigners. The residency requirement for getting married there is a stay of one night before the wedding or one night after. And couples can book their wedding with the country’s Registry Office for up to a year in advance.
A honeymoon in Gibraltar offers a great many delightful attractions. Of course there is the tasty and varied cuisine available because of its unique blend of cultures.
But Gibraltar has also transformed some of its historical monuments into fine dining, entertainment and shopping areas where visitors can both enjoy a sense of history and typical holiday activities. Among these is the Chatham Counterguard, an important bastion built in the 18th century to provide protection for the territory, which now features restaurants, bars and musical events.
Shopping for souvenirs is also VAT-free and newly-weds can choose from a range of mementos to take home, including high street brands of cosmetics, jewellery and electronics and local artisanal goods.
It is also possible to enjoy the blend of architecture the country has to offer while walking hand- in-hand on designated, signposted trails. One of the trails named “The History of Gibraltar’s Street Names” even includes a road known as “Lover’s Lane”.
A visit to the St. Michael’s Cave would likewise make for fond memories. Formed many millennia ago, this cave comprises beautiful, shimmering stalactites in various colours and a crystal lake.
For animal lovers, there are numerous opportunities for viewing dolphins and other wildlife, including the country’s famous wild monkeys which should be seen and photographed but not touched.
And, of course, no visit to Gibraltar would be complete without an aerial view of the Rock, as Gibraltarians fondly call their home; this can be enjoyed on board a cable car accessed at the base station on Main Street.
There is no question that its ease in arranging weddings and the numerous attractions available make Gibraltar the ideal choice for couples wanting a wedding that is filled with wonderful and very special memories.

Gibraltar a safe haven for weddings during pandemic
Gibraltar is keen to welcome visitors including couples planning to get married and has put the requisite contingency measures in place to do so safely.
Gibraltar is exempted from the list of countries the UK advises against non-essential travel to and Gibraltar has moved to lift many of the restrictions on recreation, freedom of movement and association it had implemented early on in the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Gibraltar Tourist Board is now working with bloggers and other media to promote tourism to the country in the coming months, and EasyJet again began flying to the country from the UK towards the end of July.
At the same time, there is a heavy emphasis on ensuring safety with employees in restaurants, shops, hair and beauty salons and public transport being mandatorily required to wear masks when interacting with the public. Physical distancing and regular sanitising have also been implemented at the airport terminal.
The government has provided mobile testing stations in public spaces so that persons who fear they may have contracted the illness can readily determine their health status.
As such, couples planning to get married can confidently book their wedding date with the Registry Office, with the understanding that they will use good judgment and observe the hygiene protocols such as washing their hands regularly and practicing social distancing wherever possible.
But there are some things you need to keep in mind when planning your wedding in Gibraltar..
1. Weddings at the Registry Office will accommodate only the couple getting married and two witnesses.
2. Social gatherings at venues for receptions and other events may be considerably limited with regards to the number permitted to attend.
3. Special provision is made at the airport for elderly people and those with health conditions that make them particularly vulnerable, by means of a specially designated search area so that they do not have to mingle with the general arrivals.
4. Gibraltar is not allowing cruise ship passenger arrivals for the time being, so it will not be possible to plan for a honeymoon cruise directly from that country.
5. Persons arriving on yachts or other pleasure craft will not be allowed to come ashore until authorities have cleared the vessel. Health checks will be administered.
6. Visitors, including those with disabilities, can enjoy the beaches since Gibraltar has worked to ensure that many of the beaches are physically accessible to all while ensuring social distancing measures are in place.
So rest assured, if you do decide to make it to Gibraltar this year for your wedding or honeymoon, that adequate provisions have been put in place to ensure you have a safe and enjoyable stay, despite the limitations imposed by the COVID-19 pandemic. You can find out more about the attractions that await you when you visit Gibraltar by checking out this booklet on the Tourist Board’s website, available in more than a dozen languages. https://www.visitgibraltar.gi/attractions-booklets

Bodas En Gibraltar
Tips to enjoy your elopement in Gibraltar
Tips to enjoy your elopement in Gibraltar
Enjoy each other
This may go without saying but doesn’t always happen. Take time and slow down to let your feelings of your new spouse come to the surface and embrace it.
Make it special
There are a number of ways you can make this elopement special, from personalising your vows to splashing out on a fancy limousine. Go to Gibraltar's lovely Marina’s restaurant for dinner, do whatever makes the two of you feel special to make this day truly memorable.
Write a wedding day timeline
It may seem like you don’t need one, but thinking about the structure of your day is the best way to make the most out of it. If the ceremony takes fifteen minutes and the dinner takes two hours- what’s the plan for the rest of the day? Take time with your hair and makeup, have a long, relaxing breakfast, a couples massage or a photo session. Make sure there is a nice flow to your day so you can keep up the excitement.
Have a candlelit dinner or picnic
Eloping doesn’t mean eating cereal bars at gas stations. You can have a private chef or even cook for yourselves. This means you get the entire choice of what you want to eat on your wedding day.
Outdoor activities
An adventure wedding is a good way to immerse yourselves in what this beautiful world has to offer. After tying the knot, why not try stand up paddle/boat tour, walk Gibraltar’s famous med steps or climb through the lower St Michael’s Cave, horseback riding in Tarifa or a helicopter tour around Gibraltar. There really is no end to how much fun and excitement you can create.
